The Association of Asian Social Science Research Councils (AASSREC) is pleased to announce the upcoming call for applications for the 2025 International Social Science Collaboration and Development Grants. This initiative aims to foster international collaboration among early to mid-career social science researchers in the Asia-Pacific region, with a focus on capacity building and support for underrepresented scholars.
Grant Details:

Number of Grants: Up to 11 grants will be awarded in this round, with a second round to follow in early 2025.

Funding Amount: Each grant offers a maximum of $5,750 AUD.

Project Duration: Funded activities should be conducted within a 12-month period, specifically between August 1, 2024, and July 31, 2025.

Research Themes: While applications across all social science disciplines are welcome, priority will be given to projects focusing on:

Technology and digital transformations

Equity, gender, and indigeneity

Eligibility Criteria:

Academic Qualification: Applicants must be social science researchers within six years of obtaining their most recent postgraduate qualification (Masters, PhD, or equivalent), excluding eligible career interruptions.

Residency: Applicants should reside in a low or middle-income Asia-Pacific country or territory.

Collaboration: Applicants must either be residents of an AASSREC member country/territory or propose direct collaboration with a researcher in an AASSREC member country/territory.

Institutional Affiliation: Applicants must be employed by a research organization (such as a university, research institute, or government research agency) capable of administering and supporting the proposed project. A letter of endorsement from a supervisor or authorized official is required.
Priority Consideration:
While all eligible applications are welcome, priority will be given to:

Researchers from minority or marginalized communities

Researchers from low and lower-middle-income countries

Researchers with limited opportunities for international engagement and those without a track record of external funding
