Call for Applications: Science Education Award (SEA) 2025

The Malaysia Toray Science Foundation (MTSF) is pleased to announce the call for applications for the 2025 Science Education Award (SEA). This award recognizes and rewards Malaysian science educators who have demonstrated innovative and effective teaching methods in science education.

Award Categories and Prizes:

  • Winning Prizes: 5 awards ranging from RM6,000 to RM10,000 each

  • Runner-up Prizes: 5 awards of RM4,000 each

  • Consolation Prizes: 5 awards of RM2,000 each

  • Total Allocation: RM60,000

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Target Group: Malaysian science teachers/educators in secondary schools, technical schools, education centers, and pre-university colleges.

  • Innovation: Demonstrated innovative approaches to improve or solve problems in science teaching and learning.

  • Effectiveness: Evidence of effective methods that promote understanding, interest, scientific thinking, and self-improvement among students.

  • Practicability: Utilization of cost-effective resources in teaching methodologies.

  • Nomination: Candidates must be nominated by their institution’s Principal.

  • Application Type: Both individual and group applications are accepted.

Application Procedure:

  1. Download Nomination Form: Obtain the nomination form in Word format from the MTSF website:

  2. Complete the Form: Fill in all required details and secure necessary approvals and signatures from relevant institutions or authorities.

  3. Prepare Submission: Scan the completed nomination form into a PDF file.

  4. Online Submission: Submit the scanned nomination via the MTSF online portal:

Important Notes:

  • Submission Period: Applications are accepted from January 1 to May 31, 2025. The online submission system will close automatically at midnight on May 31. Early submissions are encouraged to avoid any last-minute issues.

  • File Naming Convention: Name your application file in the following format: SEA-[Your Name]-[State]-2025 (e.g., SEA-Kairuddin-Penang-2025).

  • Acknowledgment: Upon successful submission, you will receive an acknowledgment email with a reference number for future correspondence.

Award Conditions:

  • Tax Exemption: The award amount is not taxable in the hands of the winner.

  • Recognition: Recipients will be honored at the MTSF Prize Presentation Ceremony.
