Call for Applications: Toyota Foundation 2025 International Grant Program

The Toyota Foundation is inviting applications for its 2025 International Grant Program, titled “Cultivating Empathy Through Learning from Our Neighbors: Practitioners’ Exchange on Common Issues in Asia.

Program Objectives:

This program aims to deepen mutual understanding and knowledge-sharing among individuals in East Asia, Southeast Asia, and South Asia who are collaboratively addressing shared issues. By promoting direct interaction among key players, the program seeks to survey and analyze situations in target countries, gain new perspectives, and expand the potential of future generations.

Grant Details:

  • Target Countries: East Asia, Southeast Asia, and South Asia, including Malaysia.

  • Project Period: One-year projects (November 2025 – October 2026) or two-year projects (November 2025 – October 2027).

  • Grant Amount: Up to JPY 5,000,000 for one-year projects; up to JPY 10,000,000 for two-year projects.

  • Total Grant Budget: 80 million yen.

Eligibility:

The program encourages diverse teams based in multiple target countries. Team members may include practitioners, researchers, creators, policymakers, journalists, and other media representatives with practical experience and knowledge in addressing issues within the target countries.

April 1 to May 31, 2025, 11:59 p.m. Japan Standard Time.

Selection Process:

Grant recipients will be selected by the Toyota Foundation Board of Directors, based on the deliberations of a Selection Committee consisting of external experts. Final decisions are expected by late September 2025.
