Programme Overview
- Funding Amount: Up to 1,000,000 Japanese Yen per project

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be nationals of developing countries in the Asia-Pacific region (e.g., Malaysia, Indonesia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, etc.)
- Be either:
- Researchers with at least three years of research experience and sufficient achievements in their field, working full-time at a research institution or relevant organization
- Full-time doctoral students enrolled at a research institution
- Be under 40 years of age
- Possess sufficient research experience and skills to conduct and manage the proposed research
- Be able to communicate in English
- Not have another application submitted to the NEF
- Not have another ongoing NEF-funded project at the time of application submission

Research Focus
The proposed research project must:nagaofoundation.or.jp
- Be scientific research contributing to the nature conservation of the country where the applicant currently works or studies
- Focus primarily on living organisms
- Be carried out in the applicant’s home country
- Involve fieldwork for data collection
- Be the applicant’s own research work (team projects are ineligible)
- Achieve its objectives and submit interim and/or final reports within a scheduled project period of not less than one year and not more than two years
