Yayasan Inovasi Malaysia (Dasar Inovasi Sosial, DIS) 2025-2030

The Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI) has unveiled the Dasar Inovasi Sosial (DIS) 2025-2030, aiming to address socio-economic challenges in Malaysia through innovative solutions. This policy emphasizes the empowerment of local communities by leveraging local issues, technologies, and benefits, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and principles of Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG).

Research Grants Available Under DIS 2025-2030:

To facilitate the objectives of DIS, several research grants are available for the period 2025-2030:

  1. Malaysia Innovation Fund (MyIS Community):
    • Purpose: Support projects that utilize innovative solutions to address community issues, fostering social innovation at the grassroots level.
    • Eligibility: Open to government agencies, statutory bodies, public universities, research institutions, GLCs, companies limited by guarantee (CLGs), startups (operating between 1 to 5 years), NGOs, cooperatives, and registered associations.
    • Funding Scope: Covers expenses for raw materials, equipment, project documentation (up to RM2,000), travel and transportation (up to 3% of total funds), and consultancy and testing services (up to 20% of total funds).
    • Application Process: Applicants must complete the online application form via https://myiskomuniti.innomap.my/ within the specified period.

  1. Malaysia Grand Challenge (MGC) Programme:
    • Purpose: Fund research and development (R&D) projects focusing on smart technology and systems, medicine and healthcare, smart cities, and transportation.
    • Eligibility: Researchers from higher research institutes (IPTs), government research institutes (GRIs), individuals, registered associations, cooperatives, NGOs, tech-based startups (majority Malaysian-owned), and SMEs registered with the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM).
    • Funding Details: As of October 2024, RM252.7 million has been approved for 119 R&D projects under MGC.
